God is giving people around the world a vision for a house of prayer in their city – a community that gathers for prayer and worship many hours each week. We want to help you plant a house of prayer in your city through the resources below, and we would also be happy to come visit you to provide on-site teaching & training.
A House of Prayer
A house of prayer can have tremendous spiritual impact in a city and region. Hundreds (maybe thousands) of relatively small house of prayer communities are open multiple times each week to host God’s presence and intercede for spiritual breakthrough. This is extremely powerful. There are also a few larger houses of prayer functioning as regional missions bases. A few of those house of prayer missions bases in the United States are open 24/7, but that is rare and unusual.
Most houses of prayer utilize the “harp & bowl” model of combining worship & prayer that was developed by IHOP-KC, as it provides an enjoyable way to engage in prayer for long hours. Some houses of prayer play IHOP-KC’s 24/7 live prayer room webstream in their prayer room when live worship teams are unavailable.
One great resource to familiarize yourself with the house of prayer movement is The House of Prayer and The Praying Church (pdf) provided FREE by Scott Bradshaw of the Fredericksburg Prayer Furnace.
One of the most helpful and practical resources for house of prayer leaders is the handbook How to Build The House of Prayer by Brad Stroup (click link to order a copy) of the Prayer Room in Dallas. We strongly recommend that potential house of prayer leaders get a copy of this handbook.
Brad Stroup also has a free audio series on House of Prayer Leadership available on the Prayer Room DFW web site.
